La Roche-Posay Effaclar Cleanser. 2 Minute Review.

Over the past year I have gradually watched my skin type change, doing a complete 180° from dry to oily and I completely blame my hormones for this. Having not had a spot since I was 13 years old, now at the ripe old age of 26 it’s an everyday problem that I wholeheartedly did not anticipate having to deal with.

Having done a spot of research on Boots and other sites and read reviews on various products I decided to give this La Roche-Posay cleanser a go. I  will be the first to admit to having walked past this brand on numerous occasions without giving it a second glance but as they say; a change is as good as a rest.

So what is it?

It’s a gel face/body wash that targets oily or blemish-prone skin.

How does it work?

It’s a gel that develops into a foam when massaged into damp skin. It gets rid of the excess sebum on the skin without making your skin really dry.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes! If my skin doesn’t like a product it will kindly let me know immediately by making me look like a beetroot. It’s 100% hypoallergenic and soap free.

How did it work for you?

Using the cleanser; morning and night for a few days I could already see my skin less oily during the day. My skin has had no issue with it at all.

Would you recommend it?

Wholeheartedly yes. Don’t expect miracles (we all wish for them but sadly they don’t exist..) this cleanser is not a cure-all but there has been a significant change in my skin on using it. For me, the most important benefit of this cleanser is that it’s kind to my skin whilst also making it feel less oily.

If you fancy checking out La Roche-Posay Effaclar Cleanser too, you can find it here.

Are you a La Roche-Posay lover? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂

Much Love,

I have a new love. The slogan sweatshirt.

Team it with a pair of leather trousers/girlfriend jeans and sneakers et voila, you have a simple yet stylish look.

Mint Tea

Those of you who know me will appreciate my unwavering love for Mint tea. Mint tea can come in many varieties including Peppermint, Spearmint and other interesting mint/herbal blends.  I drink 2-3 cups a day of different types and swear by it for a number of reasons.

A few years ago I decided to cut down on my caffeine intake.  I tried green tea first but I wasn’t fussed on the taste but when I tried peppermint tea, I knew it was a keeper.

I thought I would share some of the known benefits of mint teas to explain why I keep reaching for them rather than a traditional Black Tea blends.

Peppermint 1

Digestive Health

We inherently don’t like talking about our digestive health even though we are all proud owners of these things called intestines. Mint teas are great for your digestive system, not only can they reduce bloating and cramping but increase gut motility too, helping things just work a little bit better in there.

Mint teas are known for their antibacterial properties which can help your body manage the bugs that it comes into contact with during the course of a day (spearmint tea is particular good at this). They can also help you when you’re feeling under the weather by helping to quell nausea and act as anti-inflammatories in the stomach.

Peppermint 2

Stress Relief

When it comes to stress and anxiety, mint tea is one of your best allies. The menthol that is naturally present in the tea is a relaxant. This calming property can help to provide natural stress and anxiety relief.

As mentioned above, mint teas are natural relaxants and so can help to aid sleep. Drink a cup in the evening and enjoy some quality Zzz’s.

Peppermint 4

Some of you might have read online that Mint teas (specifically spearmint) can help with ailments caused by hormone imbalances however the internet is full of information that is not always based on fact and evidence. As a medical professional I don’t feel that this particular health claim has been widely enough researched so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a herbal remedy for these types of ailment without first consulting your GP.

My Favourite Blend

Still yet to be convinced? Why not give it a try and see what I’m making the big fuss about 🙂  If you’re looking for a tea to try, I recommend trying Suki Tea –  Loose Leaf Peppermint, it’s a fresh and delicate tea, ethically sourced and blended in Belfast. Find it here. (You can also get it in teabags if you don’t have an infuser.)

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog and are excited to try your first cup of Mint Tea.

Much Love,

You’re Making Me Blush.

With Spring in our sights, we tend to look at our homes and think that a refresh is on the cards. One of my favourite interior trends that has been peeping through in 2016 is ‘blush’.

I know what you’re all thinking…’I don’t want my house to look like a 6 year old girl’s bedroom…‘ but just have a look at these uber stylish homes for inspiration and you’ll soon be reaching for the Farrow and Ball colour cards.

The unwritten rule:

Okay, before anyone runs and grabs the aforementioned colour cards, there is one little rule to be aware of. Try and pair blush pink with with metallics, neutral tones and textured linens if you want to avoid the ‘candy shop’ look.

Don’t be afraid to mix pinks either, it will add depth and interest to any room.

Much Love,

Valentines Wish List.

I’m not ashamed to admit to anyone that I look forward to Valentines Day every year. I’m a real girly girl and although there are plenty of other days in the year to show your nearest and dearest how much you love them, you really can’t beat that little February treat.

I apologise in advance to those without another half…why not treat this little post as a wish list for yourself  (‘from me to me’).

First up, this Burberry scarf. I’m sorry but this is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Burberry: check! Hearts: check! Cashmere: check! This little beauty is happiness in scarf form albeit out of my price range, but hey, this is a wish list  right?

Ah, Diptyque, can they do any wrong? When the email introducing this candle popped into my inbox I swear my eyes had hearts in them. There are other lovely things in the Diptyque Valentines collection so go check them out now as it’s all limited edition so when they’re gone, they’re gone.

I’m really sad to say I have never received a box of these *cries* so if hubby is reading this…just kidding 🙂  No one can have Valentines Day without choccies and these look just divine.

Although I have already blogged about styling your home this Valentines Day I just had to show you these cushions. They are Sass and Belle which will forever be one of my favourite brands. Kindly gifted by Jemima’s Locket they fit just perfectly with the decor of my house. They usually sit on our bed but I thought they looked just as cute here on the snuggle seat in the kitchen. These little lovelies would also make a great engagement/wedding pressie. Love, love, love.

Finally, anyone who knows me will be wondering how could I forget Emma Bridgewater. Tea and champagne truffles anyone? The Pink hearts pattern is my favourite and I collected it as my wedding china so it will always have a special place in my heart.

I hope everyone has a lovely Valentines Day, I’m really looking forward to hearing what you get from your loved ones.

*If you are single, or have married for a long time. Screw valentines…who needs flowers and chocolates anyway 🙂

Much love,

Judy xo

Love Your Home This Valentines Day.

It’s not just our other halves who need to be reminded that they are special this Valentines day, why not show your home to a little bit of love too…

I’m super excited to share with you some lovely things that I bought on a little visit to Dunelm last weekend.  Let’s face it, we’re in limbo…it’s too early for Spring decor and yet we’re all fed up of Winter and want a little something to cheer up our homes! I’ve found some lovely pieces that will help you show your home some love.  In typical French Grey Lifestyle fashion be prepared for muted tones and stylish pieces.

First up, this heart wreath. I have something similar on the mantle above my cooker, but oh my… I just couldn’t pass this over. This wooden cottage style ‘griege’ wreath would be perfect on your front door (providing you live in a milder climate), above your fire place or as I have, on a tall mirror. It’s surprisingly big, being 50cm tall and wide. Definitely a statement piece!

*I apologise for being in the pic but it was a bit tricky trying to keep myself out of shot 🙂

How lovely is this heart ruffle cushions? They are available in grey, cream and red but I bought a cream one as it was more suited to my kitchen than the grey, as too much grey in a single room can be a bit insipid.

Put it on a statement chair or use it to dress your bed, this little beauty will bring some Valentines cheer to any room in your home. It measures 30cm x 30cm and is something you can keep on display all year.

Now, let’s not forget the bathroom as it’s somewhere that often gets neglected. I bought this gorgeous real marble tooth brush holder and marble print towel. I don’t know if anyone else has problems finding marble accessories at a reasonable price?  but I was very happy to discover this range in Dunelm! There are also lots more in the collection to tickle your fancy so why not pop in for a little lookie.

Last but not least, we all need a beautiful white jug to display those bunches of red roses that our other halves buy us (ahem, if you are lucky!).

This white heart jug can be used as a vase for flowers or just displayed on it’s own. This jug is part of a larger range and you can get anything from egg cups to dinner sets. This little piece really spoke to me as it was simple and not too fussy, so I just had to have it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my post of curated pieces for your home this Valentines Day, in collaboration with Ocean Loans.

I would love to hear how you are decorating your home for Valentines Day and if you will be rushing out to buy any of the pieces that I have shared!

Much Love,

Judy xo
