Hello Autumn!

In the past few days the change in the season has been really apparent to me with the browning of the leaves, the darker mornings and also that little nip in the air! I have to say that Autumn is one of my favourite seasons and October one of my favourite months, I can’t give you any one reason but it just feels special!

As summer is such a busy time for Mr S and I we normally take a bit of time off work and try to go away in the early part of September when it starts to get a little quieter, this year we went to Rhodes, a Greek Island  located in the Southeast of the Aegean sea.

Fast forward 4 weeks and the sun, sea and sand are a distant memory and now I am ready to swiftly adapt to the incoming Autumnal weather…

I did the necessary seasonal raid of my ‘other wardrobe’ (or room as it actually is) which I am ashamed and impressed at in equal measure. *note to self: time for a wardrobe clearout, you are not Carrie Bradshaw from SATC* I dusted off my boots, roll necks, cardigans and coats from last winter. The only thing that I really need to buy is new boots so the search is on for those!

When the season changes I commit wholeheartedly with my wardrobe choices, meal planning and also my home decor. I recently bought some knitted white pumpkins to update my home decor and also a real one from the local garden centre. The blues and greens have been put away awaiting Springs arrival and the nudes, greys and faux fur have come out to play.

October has already been an exciting month for me. Just yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting a Stella and Dot Trunk Show (jewellery/accessories and all thing nice if you aren’t so familiar) at my home this weekend with some of my favourite ladies. My wish list is overflowing and if you fancy a look at what is on offer you can do so here!

There is also some exciting new things planned for French Grey Lifestyle…I’ll be sure to update you all very soon!! Eek!!

Much love,

Judy xo

Whats In My Bag

I love reading posts and watching YouTube videos of what people have in their bag. One reason is that it makes me feel better about myself that I am not the only one who carries the contents of what could only be described as a standard bin in the bottom of my bag, the other, well just human curiosity and nosiness.

I am going to show you what’s  in my ‘weekend handbag’ as the bag I take to work has all sorts of nursing equipment, gloves etc and you wouldn’t find it that interesting.

First of all, the bag.

Isn’t she a beauty? This little ‘Gem Tassel Saddle Bag‘ sent to me by the good people of Accessorize has everything I love wrapped up in cute and compact form.  Plus, it’s a fab price too at only £22.

Ok now for the inside.

This is basically everything I carry in my weekday bag, minus the work stuff.

Let me give you a little run down;

Kate Spade Purse

iPhone 6 with Theodore Grey monogrammed cover

Coach Wristlet (which I keep cosmetics and incidentals in)

Eve Lom Kiss Mix

Bliss Body Butter

Charlotte Tilbury in ‘Bitch Perfect’

Keys, which are in a ‘Key Smart‘ (so you don’t have to carry around a set of bulky keys)

What I love about metallic bags is that they go with everything and are a bit more edgy than a nude or cream. Isn’t this little bag a match made in heaven with my Topshop silver shoes?

I hope you have enjoyed a peek inside my bag.

Much Love,

Judy xo

The Classic Trench

It is an unwritten rule that no capsule wardrobe is complete without a chic classic trench coat.

Every Spring for the past 6 years I have reached for my trusty Topshop trench, it’s versatile enough to be dressed up for work or for a more casual look you can combine it with converse for a quick scoot into town (or city break to NYC hehe ). If you cast your mind back to my NYC blogs you will see that I absolutely love mine and wore it the whole time.

Here are some of my favourite trench coats on the high street at the moment, which one will you invest in?

Military Trench Coat// Topshop

Lightweight Belted Truster// Topshop

Classic Trench Coat// Whistles

Khaki Skater Trench// ASOS

Tall Navy Trench// Missguided

The NYC Diaries: What I Wore and What I Bought.

After shopping and packing for end of the world snow and cold conditions, as the days edged closer to our holiday the trusty iPhone weather app greeted us with news that it was to be 20 plus degrees Celsius for more or less most of our time in NYC. Meaning panic stations as I raided my wardrobe for more versatile and lighter clothing to layer!

For travelling I always wear a chunky cardigan and pashmina as it gets super chilly on long haul flights and you need layers. I always take my LK Bennett tote bag, it fits loads, is light and also the pop of pink is so cheery!

On reflection I should haven taken more outfit photos, but we were having so much fun I completely forgot.

This was our first day and it was super warm. I was thankful I packed this Topshop Chambray shirt. The Khaki jeans were from New Look and the sneaks are New Balance 373s which have done some walking around cities in their time.

My bag, which I have had a lot of enquiries about is from M&S. It was super light and compact and easy throw into my suitcase at the end of the holiday.

Also. Dimples.

This photo was taken on our Mad Men Cocktail Tour which I will talk about in my next post. This is my famous ‘Joan’ dress, which I wear religiously to most fancy occasions. As I have got older I see the importance of timeless, classic pieces that I can grab time and time again and that never look dated. Mr S is wearing a Remus Uomo Navy suit and Ted Baker tie.

Even though I bought a new camel wool coat for going on holidays, I opted for my trusty Mac. I think I bought it in a Topshop sale when I was at University, almost 9 years ago. It hasn’t let me down yet!

So…on to what I bought! Just an FYI, I didn’t go crazy in the shops, sometimes we buy for the sake of buying which isn’t a great habit to get into. So I opted for some pieces which I hope will compliment my capsule wardrobe.

You can’t go to America and not come home with at least one item from J Crew. I got this red and white summer weight Breton, hanging at the end of a rail all sad and lonely on its own and when I went to pay for it..there was 70% off, which was more than lucky.

I know, another Breton. I just can’t get enough of ‘& Other Stories’, it is one of my favourite shops in the world and it was so nice to have a walk through an ACTUAL store. I will be teaming this little beauty with white/blue jeans in the sunnier days and hopefully if I can track some down, pink satin converse. I couldn’t find any in NYC, so the search continues. (If anyone can help me out with finding said converse I will be eternally grateful).

I posted a little shot of this for those who follow me on Instagram. My dear friend Miss McC bought one of these on her travels last year and I was itching to get my hands on one too. It reads, “Go girl, seek happy nights to happy days..” which for those who don’t know it is a quote from Romeo and Juliet. Its amazingly pigmented so only a little will do. This is also from ‘& Other Stories’.

‘Finally’ I hear you all cry, when will we find out what was in the Tiffany bag. Well, it’s not diamonds this time, but something I have wanted for so very long. It’s a Tiffany Infinity ring in sterling silver. It caught my eye a few years ago and I finally had the chance to go to somewhere special to purchase it. I love when jewellery has a special sentiment or occasion behind it, it makes it a lot more precious.

I know you saw me with loads of Kate Spade bags on Snap Chat, but they were gifts and not for me, *cries*. Although, to cheer us up, here are some snaps of the Kate Spade pop-up home and clothes shops in SOHO.

Also, can we just take a minute to appreciate how beautiful the Tutu in Reppetto’s window was?

There’s a small part of me that still believes I will one day be a ballerina.

Much love,

Judy xo

Front Row at Nor Lisa SS16

Last Sunday I had a fab-u-lous evening at the Spring/Summer 16 Nor Lisa launch at The Chelsea on the Lisburn Road in Belfast.

As a lover of all things fashion, I was excited to attend and that fact that it was to support a Northern Irish designer was a bonus too.

The concept of Nor Lisa’s SS 16 campaign collection was ‘Summer’ as a base, inspired by her love of the South of France. Sunsets, marinas, sun kissed sand, coral beds, lazy day dreaming days, I can totally see that inspiration in the collection. I could imagine each piece being worn on a beach  with the crashing azure waves in the background and the warm golden sand between tanned toes…sigh.

Anyhow, here are some photos of the collection, I do hope you enjoy them and let them transport you to sunnier climes.

Below are some of my snaps of the day. It was hard to choose my favourite look as I swooned over all of them, but the denim co-ordinates were stunning and I could imagine myself wearing this look with a pair of coral heels and oversized shades.

Nor Lisa will be showcasing three more outfits at Belfast Fashion Week in addition to the 13 shown at this launch, a show not to be missed and you can purchase tickets here for the designer/boutique night.

If you fancy any of the looks they are all for sale on Etsy or you can PM Nor Lisa on Facebook!

February Round Up!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new blogging tradition of reflecting on the month past! I’m pretty sure this will evolve and change over time but I am super excited to share with you all the things that didn’t make it’s way onto my instagram or blog this month.

What I ate:

Ok, a serious amount of avo on sourdough was eaten courtesy of Middle Town Coffee, a new coffee shop that opened in our town just before Christmas. Ballymena has been crying out for a decent coffee shop for a long time and now it’s here, me and my fam are keeping it in business singlehandedly, as if we are letting this little gem go! If you are in the area, pop into Middletown for the tastiest flat white you will ever experience.

On top of the avo eating, there was a serious amount of brunching happening with friends and of course a Ramore Wine Bar date for good measure! I feel like I am still recovering from that food coma!

Of course, how could I forget Valentines Day! Again, showing our age, we opted for a brunch date at Bert’s Jazz Bar. Eggs Benedict, Bucks Fizz and smooth jazz. I couldn’t imagine a better way to have spent the day with Mr French Grey Lifestyle.

What I did:

In between the manic days of the office we squeezed in a few dates. On Valentine’s Day after the aforementioned brunch, we went for a short walk and to see the Rembrandt Self Portrait in the Ulster Museum. The exhibition is on until the 13th of March. Great free day out and as an added bonus there are tasty tray bakes in the cafe!

A big part of my life is promoting good Mental Health. It is of course part of the day job and one of my passions. I was very honoured to be asked to talk at a local Young Farmers Club to a group of young adults about Mental Illness and maintaining good Mental Health. As with everything to do with the YFC it was fantastic craic as well as informative. I had a blast.

With regards to my home, I have started to add touches of Spring! It of course helps spur you on when an NI Home Magazine comes to take photos of your home (stressed.com) I will let you all know when it is published, have to say I feel equally excited/nervous about it!

What I wore:

Apart from my work clothes, I have been living in my jumpers, sneakers and leather coated trousers! I am becoming a creature of comfort as I head rather swiftly into my 27th year and I have to say I am loving it 🙂

The only outfit of note this month was what I wore to the NorLisa Fashion show (which I will tell you all about later) on Sunday past. I have never wore a pencil skirt in my life, I usually favour the fit and flare, but I did love this one from Primark, only £10 too, perfect.

What I won:

Yes you actually did read that correctly… I won two things this month. One being my fab phone cover from Theodore Grey. It’s also in my favourite colour, what are the chances! It’s Crocodile leather with gold monograming. Pretty swish eh?

The other rather luxurious item was a breakfast in bed hamper from House and Hamper (of whom, I am now a huge fangirl). I just loved everything in it and it has opened up lots of new brands to me, especially the HOBO candle.

Whats happening in March?

Ah March, how can it be March already?? So it’s Hubby’s Birthday, NYC!!!! and probably a lot more coffee and avo dates with hubby and my sis.

Much Love,

Judy xo

Team it with a pair of leather trousers/girlfriend jeans and sneakers et voila, you have a simple yet stylish look.

Here are a few of my favourites that are on my never ending wish list!
